The year is 1995, congress member Bernie Sanders stands in opposition of a homophobic statement said by Duke Cunningham. Cunningham derisively refers to “homos in the military” to support his argument while (strangely) discussing the Clean Water Act. Sanders, having none of it, quickly rises to the defense of thousands of men and women everywhere. Sanders ire is such that he repeatedly disrespects the Chairman by speaking over him in order to say his piece. [Video Source]
What does this say for Sanders? Well, that’s for you to decide. But to me, it says that for 20+ years strong he has shown his public support for LGBT+ persons everywhere, even in the face of ridicule and disrespect. Unlike some, Sanders has always been vocal about his beliefs concerning the LGBT+ community, and he has always held them. Key word always, and not just when doing so might garner him support for his campaigns.
i tell them straight away. when i meet new people one of the first questions they ask is ‘what do you do?’ and i don’t lie or avoid the question. it’s not something im gonna hide and they’re either gonna be fine with it or they’re gonna react in a shitty way, in which case it’s saved me a whole bunch of time and effort cause they’re a douchebag xxxxxx
It’s a legitimate career like anything else. There are Adult Film Awards, people take these movies as seriously as any other movies, and what you do for a living is really nobody’s business.
exactly, im not ashamed of it. plus it shows me what the guy is really like. when i tell someone and they use it as a way to be a creep and ask to ‘see’ what I do, or make inappropriate comments, or ask me personal questions like how much do I make etc it helps me weed out the sleazeballs
Laurie Cumbo appeared on CNN to discuss the case of an adolescent woman who reports she was the victim of a horrific gang rape in Brownsville, Brooklyn last week. As you can see, Cumbo had the perfect attitude to the anchorwoman’s attempt at victim blaming. And the newscaster’s response is incredibly satisfying.
When England’s Ray Smith decided he wanted to marry his girlfriend, he spent the next 5 months sneaking his proposal into 148 different photos of them together. She never noticed.
Claire: “I had no clue, I was totally oblivious to it all. He told me he was taking the pictures to create memories for the baby so I just let him get on with it.”
Ray: “I told her I was taking the pictures to track the progress of the baby, which was a little bit of a ruse,’ he explained, adding: ‘Sometimes she wanted to see the pictures so I had to take more than one – one with the card and one without.”
She just wasn’t catching on, so he finally gave her a proper proposal on Christmas day.
Ray: “It was all a bit chaotic on Christmas Day morning so I took her away and set it all up on the laptop. I got down on one knee and gave her a bit of spiel, and then popped the question.“
Claire: “I was totally surprised, but in hindsight it’s exactly the kind of thing he does. He likes to do romantic things. I said yes straight away, I didn’t need to think about it. I got a bit emotional but I am pregnant after all.”
Decided to make a post about Youtubers who post videos relating to mental health/mental illness because I thought it could be useful - I certainly find them useful! :)
